Kitsch, irreverent, and print-mad. We like to think of Red or Dead as all three. And what better way to show it off and turn heads than pairing up with Brit designer, Ashley Williams.

Renown for her humorous, quirky and heavily graphics-based collections, Ashley Williams studied womenswear at the University of Westminster, and then moved on to join Fashion East, an enterprise set up to help up and coming design talent get off the ground. Instantly recognised as ‘one to watch’, Ashley has since been taking the fashion world by storm. Previous collections of hers include graphics of Elvis Presley, the famous cat graphic, and most notably her cuddly toy bags. Her creative eye and bold designs are exactly what drew us to work with her (plus she’s lovely too)!

Our strong point at Red or Dead has always been footwear, and so to combine our expertise and archive influences with her fresh design skills is a match made in heaven.

With her first solo runway show on 14th September for SS15, the capsule collection of shoes was launched. Her own clothing collection (MakingMovies) had heavy ‘east meets west’ , and Americana influences (referencing coca-cola in Chinese for example). She downplayed any feminine spaghetti strap dresses with slogan T’s and graphics, giving it all a punky edge. All the models looked pretty awesome. And with this, our shoes balanced out the clothing, adding the important female delicacy to the whole look.

Ashley was inspired by our rich archive; our Space Baby collection from 1990 which featured a vinyl DM boot with an appliquéd space baby, our black and white arrow ‘Prisoner Collection’ from 1994; and the feminine shape of our Rainbow heels from 2004. They work perfectly in unison with her clothing, and it’s been great to see Red or Dead back on the London catwalk scene. We absolutely love the shoes and are too excited about this hook up! With more styles and colours launching in February 2015, keep your eyes peeled for more details…
