Converse x Dazed Emerging Artists Award

If you have never been to the Royal Academy of Arts, go. This beautiful building nestled in the heart of Burlington Gardens is a perfect setting to get inspired and immerse yourself in a barrage of beautiful art forms. Created by artists, for artist, The RA prides itself on its sustained support and showcasing of young British talent. So, what better setting for 5th annual Emerging Artists Award? Thursday 16th May marked both judging and launch of this month long exhibition. The star-studded event hosted by Dazed and sponsored by Converse saw designers, bloggers and photographers alike rubbing shoulders, sipping Belvedere and cooing over the extraordinary works of the five finalists.

The £5,000 prize and prestige of the top title went to Lawrence Lek for his dystopian virtual simulation; The Unreal Estate. After much deliberation and heated discussion from an esteemed panel, Lek won the title beating Patrick Cole’s performance piece – Ruin, Tamsin Snow and Sarah Tynan’s immersive environment, Rachel Pimm’s documentation of Indian Rubber and Jonathan Trayte’s unorthodox, nestling sculptures.

If you a looking to be dead inspired this weekend, then look no further than the RA. Converse x Dazed Emerging Artists Award is truly a celebration of the creative talent that this country is so proud to produce.
