Sorrell Foundation Masterclass

We had the privilege of opening our doors to the National Art and Design Saturday Club. Welcoming 14-16 year olds to discover the world of branding and footwear design in our very own Masterclass. Volunteers from across the business helped our 30 strong class all from Middlesex University Arts Club to unleash their creativity and design their own branded footwear. Last Thursday the Sorrell Foundation had its private viewing at the Somerset House showcasing the work of  art & design colleges and universities from across the country; all of whom attend the... Not Another Salon

I was advised to try “Not Another Salon” in Brick Lane. What an amazing experience for any colour fanatic. Paint pots adorned the walls, hair dye being mixed like paint – although you realise this is a total science. Numbers being reference to colour products. The most interesting, cool, colourful, punctilious people coming and going. Sophia and Ross, mixing, cutting, chatting – What a place to go to experience a hair revolution. -KT X

Cordwainers National Footwear Student Awards 2016

Back in May I judged the Cordwainers National Footwear Student Awards, with fellow footwear designers Guy West – Jeffrey West and  Atalanta Weller. There are only three specialist footwear university courses within the UK – London College of Fashion, Northampton and De Montfort. So the competition is tough, and there is passionate rivalry! So much so that all work entered is anonymous, – so no favouritism from us! The aim of the brief set was to generate a body of research, and produce an innovative and marketable shoe design which could be womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, or sportswear.  ... Read More

BTCG – British Textile Colour Group

We are really privileged to be part of the BTCG. This is a panel made up of brands, design agencies, trend prediction companies and we forecast trends 2 years in advance. We work with our trend boards to form a statement on colour. These boards are then presented to the Intercolor panel.  Take a look at us preparing the boards in advance of the BTCG MEETING. -KT X

Prada gold leafed museum. Nike concept exhibition Ceaser stone party, with marble tables covered in chocolate –... Read More

New York! New York!

Such a whirlwind trip visiting our Manhattan based offices and a potential intern from the New York Fashion Institute. With only two nights and two days, not long enough to do much in the way of retail therapy and sight-seeing, I managed to get a hell of a lot done.     Highlights:   Muji flagship store which takes Muji Lifestyle to new levels.   Saks 5th Ave displayed beautiful windows in-cooperating my favourite thing – SHOES!   Even found time to squeeze an evening visit to “Beauty and Essex” – an uber cool restaurant... Red or Dead takes Hong Kong

What a busy but exciting week in Honk Kong with our Specsavers buyer Stig designing the Red or Dead 2017 collection! – Not only is Hong Kong a great place to get straight to the factories, ensuring we’re at the fore-front of innovation and fashion, it’s also a remarkable place to see all the designer collections in store. Take a peek at some of my pictures from shop floor trying on to designing the range. – KT X
