The best thing about being a part of a brand with such a rich history are the stories that shaped our future. A little know fact is that Legendary British Designer Alexander McQueen used to be a part of the Red or Dead team. Alexander or Lee as as he was know back then, had an chance encounter with John McKitterick who Designed for Red or Dead at the time. John Described Lee as a “very shy man, very unassuming” but he was very impressed by Lee’s work, as you could imagine, and hired him to work as a pattern cutter and machinist. Lee was always on time, Highly focused and very quiet. He never told anyone about his ambitions or private life but still managed to form meaningful relationships with the whole team. Lee worked with us on 3 collections between 1989 -1990. Our hard core followers will know that 1990 was the year we premiered our Iconic Space Baby collection.
In July of last year we received an interesting email asking us about our time with McQueen for a documentary film. Naturally we were extremely excited to be contacted and offered to help in any way that we could. We sent videos of all three collections that McQueen worked on and that was that for a year.
Now a whole year later we are honoured to be featured in the new McQueen movie. The film has been described as a “rags-to-riches story is a modern-day fairy tale, laced with the gothic. Mirroring the savage beauty, boldness and vivacity of his design”
