If ya haven’t heard of the charity, click on this link and wrap your eyes around this: http://www.thesorrellfoundation.com. We love this charity. Being big advocates of creativity, we have so much respect for its aim to inspire creativity in young people. WE ARE YOUR STUDIO

Earlier this week I managed to blag my way into a very inspirational, forward thinking and informative talk at Your Studio on disruptive design. Something that we at Red or Dead towers are very happy to partake in. Your Studio took us on a journey of brands who challenge and reinvent the rebellious spirit to cultivate a pioneering culture. Below is just a snippet of what was revealed;  Ikea Space10; is challenging the norm by creating spaces that enable us the consumer to collaborate so that they can innovate. Everlane; are being radically transparent, matching clothes with... Read More

DAVID HOCKNEY @ ROYAL ACADEMY

Popped in to The Royal Academy of Arts this week to take a peak at David Hockney’s exhibition – 82 portraits and 1 still life. My last visit to a David Hockney exhibition was in 2012 @ The RA for ‘A Bigger Picture’ I remember being so overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the canvas size, the explosion of colour and the stunning serenity of the seasons. Although feelings for this current exhibition were slightly mutual it was definitley a special experience. – As I walked in to the room I was... Read More

Royal Academy of Arts – Summer Exhibition

The team at the Red or Dead towers had a real treat this week with early access to the Summer Show  – featuring interesting portraits by  David Hockney at the stunning Royal Academy of Arts. What a chaotic feast for the brain and eyes! We made our way through the beautiful galleries adorned with every possible medium of art known to man – so much colour, variety and inspiration. This years curator Richard Wilson really has put on a show for all the senses. My favourite pieces ranged from photographic moving faces by Jane and Louise... Read More

Secret Cinema

Secret Cinema presents DIRTY DANCING. (No secret now!) We enjoyed all that the Kellerman’s had to offer at their summer camp somewhere in a field near Leyton. All dolled up in our 1963 get ups along with what seemed like a 1000 others. We learnt to rumba, jive and merengue. We, volleyballed, hula-hooped, drank cocktails and pretended we were the decent refined people at the camp, but as the sun went down the temperature rose, as we made our way to the dirty after hours staff quarters party; dancing turned in to... Cordwainers National Footwear Student Awards 2016

Back in May I judged the Cordwainers National Footwear Student Awards, with fellow footwear designers Guy West – Jeffrey West and  Atalanta Weller. There are only three specialist footwear university courses within the UK – London College of Fashion, Northampton and De Montfort. So the competition is tough, and there is passionate rivalry! So much so that all work entered is anonymous, – so no favouritism from us! The aim of the brief set was to generate a body of research, and produce an innovative and marketable shoe design which could be womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, or sportswear.  ... Read More

BTCG – British Textile Colour Group

We are really privileged to be part of the BTCG. This is a panel made up of brands, design agencies, trend prediction companies and we forecast trends 2 years in advance. We work with our trend boards to form a statement on colour. These boards are then presented to the Intercolor panel.  Take a look at us preparing the boards in advance of the BTCG MEETING. -KT X

New York! New York!

Such a whirlwind trip visiting our Manhattan based offices and a potential intern from the New York Fashion Institute. With only two nights and two days, not long enough to do much in the way of retail therapy and sight-seeing, I managed to get a hell of a lot done.     Highlights:   Muji flagship store which takes Muji Lifestyle to new levels.   Saks 5th Ave displayed beautiful windows in-cooperating my favourite thing – SHOES!   Even found time to squeeze an evening visit to “Beauty and Essex” – an uber cool restaurant...
